VOORHEES BOYS SOCCER TRY-OUT OVERVIEW AND SELECTION PROCESS
How are Players selected?
Players are selected on the basis of open tryouts. Up to Twenty-six players will be held for the final roster. These tryouts are directed by Coach A. Morales who is recognized for his ability to identify and train players. This is Coach Morales’ 20th year coaching the boys team at VMS.
Selection of these players is not an easy task. Coach Morales is assisted in the selection process by Coach Day and several other qualified VMS coaches and staff members. Players are evaluated on five components that make up a soccer player.
1. Technical skills (dribbling, passing, shooting)
2. Physical Attributes (speed, strength, conditioning)
3. Defending (agility, tackling, ball winning)
4. Tactical (awareness & understanding of the game/rules)
5. Psychological Component (behavior, attitude, interaction, commitment, courage)
Format of Try-Outs
Each player will be assigned a number for their entire try-out.
All players will be evaluated on the five components outlined above.
Evaluation Process
All coaches and try-out staff personnel will have their own checklist for players. Coaches will meet and discuss privately at the conclusion of each try-out day. A final roster will be posted using the players assigned number.

Try-outs may consist of 3 stations. They will be as followed:
