ESL Program
Multilingual Language Learners
English as a Second Language is a program that strives to create or improve the development of social and academic English language proficiency for non-native speakers of the English language. Structures in the areas of listening, speaking, reading, writing and comprehension are the focus for instruction.
Students in preschool through fifth grade receive approximately 30 minutes or more of ESL instruction daily. For the most part, our ESL program operates as a pull-out program with small groups of students drawn from regular classrooms by grade and/or language proficiency. An in-class support model is sometimes provided for students whose proficiency has reached a high level.
